Every Day Counts

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

There are always times when students need to miss school, such as when they’re ill. It’s vital, though, that they’re only away on the days they are genuinely sick. It's also vital that holidays are planned during school holidays where possible, and not during the term if it can be avoided.

Think twice before letting your child have a “day off” as they could fall behind their classmates. Every day counts.

If for any reason your child must miss school, please record the absence in the Compass App, where all communications with our school community are managed. The Compass App allows families to contact their classroom teacher, view whole school messages, download reports and respond to events. Compass can be accessed through the internet or downloaded from the App Store.

To ensure your child doesn’t fall behind as a result of their absence, speak with their classroom teacher to find out what work they need to catch up on. This may involve developing an absence learning plan with the teacher and ensuring your child completes the plan.

If you’re having attendance issues with your child, please let their teacher know so you can work together to get your child to school every day.
