Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been another busy term here at Marnebek School, with students attending excursions, camps, music incursions, dance incursions, and soccer clinics to name just a few. This week all staff at Marnebek attended their Professional Practice Day (PPD) which involved all teachers and education support staff attending various workshops to improve our practice in supporting and improving student outcomes.

The grade 6/7s were lucky enough to have the Youth Police Service visit this week to provide information on safety within the community, looking after each other, and information on the role the police play in society. Students were highly engaged throughout the session and asked Constable Smith some great questions.

In recent weeks we have had several reports regarding students engaging in inappropriate online behaviour. This is a very challenging space to manage and can be difficult keeping up with the platforms and various ways that students can contact each other whilst on a device such as an iPad or iPhone. As we are moving into the holiday period with students potentially spending more time on their devices it is important to educate ourselves on creating positive online engagement. Below is a link to the eSafety Commissioner webpage that provides some great ways to monitor and assist our young people online.

Recently I had the pleasure of attending Chisholm, TAFE to see the senior students in action. It was a pleasure to see them in their work environment learning the skills that will form the foundation for future success in the workforce. This term students enrolled in Building and Construction or Art and Design.

Finally, as you are aware we have moved into the second stage of construction at New Holland Drive. These buildings will include the majority of our specialist classrooms such as art, music, and STEM. We understand that construction has had an impact on parking and pickup/drop-off times and we thank you for your patience.

Have a fantastic, safe holiday and we look forward to seeing all students back for another jam-packed term 3.

Kind regards,
Chris Murray | Assistant Principal | Learning Neighbourhood 4

Where can I access my child's reports?

Access and download your student’s reports with ease. Simply:

‍1. Login to your school’s Compass Portal.

2. Select the View Academic Reports option below your student’s name. This should redirect you to a page showing all progress and semester reports available.

3. Select the name of the report you are interested in viewing, and this should automatically begin the download process.

Friendly Note: if your child has since left/graduated from school, you won’t be able to access their reports through Compass, and will instead need to follow-up with the school.

News from New Holland Drive Campus

Year 6/7 Blackwood Outdoor Camp

Last week, our Year 6/7 students were fortunate to attend Blackwood Outdoor Camp, located in the stunning Wombat State Forest. Students had the most incredible outdoor camp experience! We are thrilled to share the amazing memories and adventures our students had during their time at the camp. From the moment they arrived, the excitement was palpable. The beautiful natural surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for a week of exploration and learning.

The camp offered a wide range of activities that catered to every interest. From hiking through lush trails and discovering hidden waterfalls to team-building challenges and outdoor games, there was never a dull moment. Our students embraced every opportunity to connect with nature and each other.

The highlight of the camp was undoubtedly the evenings around the campfire. Gathering together under the starry night sky, the students shared stories, sang songs, and roasted marshmallows. It was a time for laughter, bonding, and making lifelong memories.

We were so proud to see our students stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing new experiences. The camp provided them with a chance to develop important life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience. It was heartwarming to witness their growth and confidence throughout the week. Thank you to the staff who went above and beyond to ensure our students had a safe and memorable experience.

Greetings from Prep C

Prep C explored fun ways to develop their literacy skills with Letter "B" tracing and sounding out!

Students focused on the letter “B”by tracing activities that aim to enhance letter recognition, phonics, and fine motor skills, all while having a great time.

Who’s Who @Marnebek

Hannah Candy | Music Teacher

I absolutely love my job as a Performing Arts Teacher because it gives me the opportunity to help children express themselves and feel positive about who they are. Seeing their creativity and confidence grow through music and movement is incredibly rewarding.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. We love getting together and sharing food, laughter, and creating memories. One of my favourite things to do is explore different cuisines and try new foods. Vietnamese cuisine is a particular favourite of mine!

I have a wonderful Golden Retriever named Sunny. He brings so much joy and happiness to everyone he meets. I love taking him for walks and playing ball in the park.

Music and dance are big passions of mine. I enjoy listening to all types of music and love to dance and sing along. It's a great way for me to relax and have a good time. When it comes to movies, I enjoy films and ones that inspire creativity and imagination.

Fun fact about me, I sing in a pop choir! We love singing hit pop songs along with lots of classics too. I love incorporating singing into my lessons to create a dynamic and engaging learning experience for the students.

Once again, thank you for including me in the newsletter. I'm excited to get to know everyone in the Marnebek School community and contribute to the wonderful learning environment here.
