Welcome to term 2 *

Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Families and Community Members,

Welcome back to Term 2! It has been a fantastic start to the term, with students returning to school engaged, positive, and ready to learn. Although the term began unusually with only a three-day week, this “soft entry” has proven to be a wonderful way for students to ease back into school life. The energy across classrooms and in the yard has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s great to see students reconnecting with peers and teachers alike.

True to form, we have hit the ground running. Our Grade 6 students have already attended the Blackwood Camp, and by all accounts, it was an incredible experience filled with adventure, growth, and lasting memories. A huge thank you to our staff for making this possible and to the students for representing our school so well.

We’re also excited to see the return of basketball on Fridays for our students involved in the weekly sessions, and interschool sport is now underway for our senior students. It’s always encouraging to see so many of our students participating in extracurricular activities that build teamwork, confidence, and community spirit.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting representatives from the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA). They were extremely impressed—not only with our facilities but more importantly with how our students have embraced the new learning environments. The respectful and enthusiastic way our students engage with these spaces truly highlights the opportunities these upgrades have provided for their learning and development.

Looking ahead, next week we will be welcoming the Mayor of Casey to our school. This visit will be an opportunity to discuss key community matters, particularly the ongoing traffic concerns around New Holland Drive. I will be advocating for increased council support to ensure the safety of our students and families as they arrive and leave each day.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support. Term 2 promises to be an exciting and productive term, and I look forward to sharing more highlights with you soon.

Warm regards,

Chris Murray

Executive Principal

News from New Holland Drive Campus

Let’s have a look at the grade 3/4

We have had a wonderful start to Term 2 in the Grade 3/4 PLC at Marnebek School! In our first week back, students enjoyed celebrating Easter with a range of fun and creative activities. It was lovely to see everyone reconnecting and sharing stories from their holidays.

We also took time to learn about the significance of ANZAC Day. Our students were highly engaged as they created beautiful poppy wreaths to honour the soldiers and reflect on the meaning of "Lest We Forget." It was a meaningful experience for all, helping to deepen their understanding of this important part of Australian history.

News from our Specialists

What have our sport classes been up to?

PE at Marnebek

It’s been an action-packed year so far in the Physical Education department, and we’re thrilled to share what our students have been up to across all year levels.

Term One Highlights
We kicked off the year by introducing students to a variety of simple games that focused on teamwork, strategy, and basic movement skills. As the term progressed, students developed their abilities in basketball and cricket, working on both individual techniques and team play. These units helped build coordination, sportsmanship, and a strong foundation for future sporting activities.

What’s Ahead in Term Two
This term, students will be diving into kickball, T-ball, and lacrosse, learning new rules, tactics, and skills unique to each sport. Our junior students will continue to develop their fundamental motor skills, including running, jumping, catching, throwing, and kicking, through fun and engaging activities designed to boost confidence and physical literacy.

Beyond the Classroom
In addition to our regular PE program, students have had the opportunity to take part in several exciting events so far this year. These include:

  • Our annual swimming program

  • Specialist visits from DS Sports

  • Basketball training

  • Interschool sports competitions

  • The whole school Lap-a-thon

  • Come and Try Tennis Day

  • Rugby incursion at the Corrigans Road campus

Upcoming Events
We’re also looking forward to more exciting opportunities this term, including:

  • A visit from the St Kilda Football Club Education Department

  • The Interschool Cross Country

  • The highly anticipated Surf Camp

We’re proud of our students' enthusiasm, progress, and commitment to physical activity. The rest of the year promises even more opportunities for growth, learning, and fun in PE!
