Message from the Principal’s Office

Luke Bennett

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a brilliant first four weeks we have had this term. There have been some very exciting progressions with our building works at New Holland Drive and Corrigans Road campuses. The hoarding has been put in place which will enable the builders to work and will ensure our school community remain safe at all times. Our Year 1/2 students have also now moved into the portable classrooms which have been relocated near the basketball court. I would like to say a big thank you to the staff involved in this relocation and a big well done to the students for the way they have settled into their new classrooms.

This week we had our Student Support Group (SSG) meetings and it was fantastic for parents to meet with staff face-to-face with teachers at all four of our campuses. On Tuesday evening we also held our Careers Expo, we had 23 providers who connected with many of our families. It was great for families to be able to discuss individual options with representatives from employment agencies, apprenticeship centres, further education and funding providers.

A reminder that staff have a Professional Practice Day on Tuesday 14th June. Students will therefore not be required to attend school on this day.

Learning Neighbourhood 2 Update

What a fantastic start to term 2 our Year 5/6 students have had at our Cranbourne Primary campus. Students have settled into their new classroom spaces very well and have been enjoying the outdoor spaces such as basketball courts, a huge oval and two playground spaces. Teachers have been focusing on Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing so far this term and students have been thriving in all of these subject areas.

On behalf of all of the staff in Learning Neighbourhood 2, I would like to say a big thank you to parents for supporting our transition to our new location and a huge well done to students for settling in and demonstrating our school values every day.

Our students are going to be involved in lots of things whilst at Cranbourne Primary. Such as; Breakfast Club, School Sport Victoria events, TAFE Basketball, Bike Education, Student Leadership events and joining fundraising causes.

A highlight for the 5/6 cohort are our whole school assemblies, we enjoy remaining connected with the rest of the school and celebrating student achievements and of course seeing how many SWPBS house points everyone has achieved!

Kind regards,
Luke Bennett | Assistant Principal

Marnebek Careers Expo 2022

@Cranbourne West Secondary College

A BIG THANK YOU to all our families and service providers who attended our Careers Expo yesterday evening We had a fantastic turnout with a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere! A special thank you to Tim, Dylan and Declan for helping with the sausage sizzle!

At Marnebek School, we understand that post-school pathway planning for young people with a disability can be a complex  and daunting process. Our Careers Expo was designed to explain post-school options and to make the pathways planning process easier for our school community.

Our families had many opportunities to discuss individual options with employers and representatives from employment agencies, apprenticeship centres, further education, funding providers and day programs.

Classroom Snapshots

Welcome to Learning Neighbourhood 2 | Cranbourne Primary School

What we like about learning neighbourhood 2:

We like being at Cranbourne Primary School because we can play on the playground, play in the sandpit, and on the oval. At recess and lunch, some of us like to play snakes and ladders. We have made new friends and have met new teachers. We can’t wait for the new gym to open.

Happy :-) students at Cranbourne Primary

Greetings from 5/6 B

The students in 5/6 B have been settling in well to their new routines and new classroom in Term 2 at Cranbourne PS. First thing in the morning we complete our morning tabletop activities with very clear expectations that is tailored towards their learning goals. The students enjoy this time before we go outside for our Morning Walk, Jog or Run around the oval as this allows us time to burn some energy and spend some time with our friends across the Learning Neighbourhood.

The students in 5/6 B have been working very hard on all their work and then enjoying the calm space to interact with friends when given permission. The students have been exceptional learners especially when it comes to the positive behaviours that we see from in and around the classroom. The new structure Preet and I have set up is the ‘Class Job’ list which we have incorporated positively to the students which create a sense of responsibility and ownership for our classroom environment.

Our biggest achievement was when Heidi Schmidt and Lucas Appleton both were rewarded at last week’s assembly for displaying consistent SWPBS values throughout the week! We are very proud of you both!

CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the good work 5/6 B!

News from Learning Neighbourhood 4 | Horizon Program @TAFE

During the first week at TAFE, students were learning how to lay bricks; Kayden continued painting his fold up chair from a previous session. Bricklaying is definitely a job that requires strength and an eye for detail.

Some of the challenges faced in laying bricks was the particular way you put the mortar onto the brick, making sure the spacing was perfect between each brick & continually checking that the bricks were laid straight and were level. Awesome! You did an excellent job!
