Message from the Principal’s Office

Dear Parents/Carers,

A warm welcome back to Term 2, it is fantastic to be back to our two campuses. Our capital works is really progressing and our students are now located in the new learning buildings at New Holland Drive and Corrigans Rd. There was huge excitement and anticipation last week from students, families and staff. It has been fantastic to see how well students have settled into the new classrooms and the playground is definitely a highlight for many students at New Holland Drive!

As a school we really appreciate parent support during this time of transition. Our building works will continue at New Holland Drive which includes specialist classrooms and a PE and Allied Health hub. We are very excited to see the next stage of our works at the end of the school year.

SSG Week & Open Afternoon

On Tuesday 16th May we will hold our termly SSG meetings. We will also hold an Open Afternoon on this day to welcome our community into our school (both campuses) to have a tour of our new learning buildings, meet staff, ask questions and enjoy a BBQ! Students finish school at 2pm on this day and you will be able to book a time to meet with your teacher until 5.30pm. The leadership team will run tours at each campus at 2.30pm, 3.30pm & 4.30pm.

Basketball & Cross Country

Some students in our middle and senior classes have been participating in inter-school basketball at Casey Stadium. It is fantastic to see our students enjoying these competitive matches and displaying our school values.

Today over 50 students took part in the inter-school cross-country event in Wantirna. Congratulations to all of these students on giving this fun but tiring event a go! Awesome achievement.

Mother’s Day Stall

We will be holding our traditional Mother’s Day Stall on Thursday 11th May.  We will have a variety of wonderful gifts available which children can select from. The cost is $5.00 per gift and payment is via Compass. All orders must be placed by 9.00am on Tuesday 9th May 2023.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Kind regards,
Luke Bennett | Assistant Principal | Learning Neighbourhood 2

School Council Election Results

At the close of nominations last week, we received a total of three nominations for the three parent category vacancies and one nomination for the one school employee category vacancy. In both cases the number of nominations equalled the number of vacancies. Consequently, as the returning officer for school council elections, Jennifer Hamilton (Principal) has declared all nominations for both categories duly elected. This means that a ballot is not required.

Those newly elected school councillors are:

  • Parent category: Lee Peever, Kerry Butterworth, Teneaha Blanch

  • School employee category: Dieuson (Juice) Biyendolo

Our next school council meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th May and our office bearers will be elected in this meeting.

News from 4/5B

4/5B have really enjoyed returning to school this term. We have had so many new experiences, we went to Healesville Sanctuary on the first day of term 2 and really enjoyed see all the different animals of Australia, we have also move into our new classroom! We have been learning new skills of safely sharing the stairs and all the different areas of our building that we can learn in. Our favourite place to sit and read is the window benches and balcony. We can’t wait to learn more in our new spaces.

The 6/7s Werribee Zoo Excursion Recount

On the 27 of April 2023 the 67s travelled on a bus. When we arrived we went on a safari bus. We saw a lot of different animals on the safari bus like giraffes, camels, rhinos, ostriches, wild horses, and zebras. After the ride the 67s ate there snack and Michelle took some of the kids that were done eating to see some more animals like lions, gorillas, monkeys, and hippos. Over all I think everyone enjoyed the trip. –from Heidi Schmidt
