Issue 12 - 29th August
Principal’s Address
Dear Marnebek Community,
It has been another busy and exciting fortnight at Marnebek, with plenty of opportunities for our students to learn, connect, and shine. I would like to take this opportunity to share some of the highlights from across our school.
Student Learning and Achievements
Classrooms have been buzzing with engaging learning activities. Across the school, students have been working on projects that strengthen their literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. A big focus this term has been on phonics, with students building their knowledge of sounds and words to support their reading and writing development. It has been wonderful to see the pride our students take in their learning and the progress they are making each day
Celebrating Book Week
Last week, we came together to celebrate Book Week. Our students and staff brought the theme to life through storytelling, creative activities, and of course, our much-loved Book Parade. The effort and imagination that went into costumes was outstanding, and it was fantastic to see so many families join us in celebrating a love of reading. We also hosted a Book Fair, which was a wonderful success and gave students and families the chance to explore and purchase new books to enjoy at home.
Sports and Physical Education
Our secondary students have continued to participate in interschool sports, representing Marnebek with pride and great sportsmanship. It is always inspiring to see students encouraging one another and developing their teamwork and skills.
Staff News
I would like to congratulate Olivia Bargon, Mikaela Martin, and Tom Evans on their appointments as Learning Specialists at Marnebek. Each of them brings a depth of experience, passion, and dedication to their new roles, and we look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make across our school.
Looking Ahead
As we move further into the term, we are preparing for upcoming excursions, whole-school events, and continued opportunities to celebrate student success. Please keep an eye on Compass for updates and reminders.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our school. Marnebek continues to be a place of belonging, growth, and achievement because of the strong connections between students, staff, and families.
Regards,

News from New Holland Drive
Grade 2
This term grade 2 have been building on our social skills and experiencing lots of play based learning. We have been learning to take turns, give each other space and that it is ok to make a mistake as we learn from these. We have learned that we can have loads of fun with our friends and even a dance along the way. We’re learning how to perform in front of our friends with puppets, this has shown how much our students have learnt from being read stories at home.

News from Corrigans Rd
Year 11/12
Year 11/12
The 11 and 12 students have been busy developing life skills and socialising through various activities both in and out of the classroom. Recent community outings to Blairlogie and Wallara have provided opportunities for students to practice independence and build relationships.
Additionally, our students have been enjoying sessions at We Rock the Spectrum, where they engage in sensory play and physical activity. In class, our students are working on a range of skills, from addition and subtraction and colourful semantics to social interactions, all aimed at supporting their growth and development.
We're proud of their progress and enthusiasm!
